The Andrew Morley Trio

Andrew Morley

Andrew spent his early years working in and around London as a freelance trumpet player in the classical world (eg. London Philharmonic) and in West End shows (eg. Les Miserables). After a period of music teaching in a 6th Form college he switched his focus to the piano as "it doesn't hurt so much" and "sounds nicer" he says - "but now all my fingers ache, not just three!". He hadn't played a note of jazz until 2 years ago and aims to play in a way that best supports the lead performer and spends a lot of time practising just that. In an ideal world he'd acquire a Steinway grand (he's still saving!) and practise forever!

Jonathan Davis

Jonathan started piano and guitar at the age of 11 and played piano in a university jazz band in the US in the early 90s. He switched to electric bass in 2006 and spent seven years playing in a Shadows tribute band called the ‘Moonlight Shadows’. He bought a double bass in 2010 and started to take lessons. In 2012 he organised a series of ‘jazz jams’ at the South Holland Centre in Spalding. He has played jazz gigs across Lincolnshire and has been resident bassist since 2018 at the fortnightly Wragby jazz jams.

Neil Richards

Neil is the house drummer at the Wragby Jazz Jam and has worked with many well respected Lincolnshire jazz musicians such as Rick Woolgar (sax), Dominic Holmes (bass), Rachael Johnson & Colin Dudman (piano) and Rachael Burnett (vocals) in performances in and around Lincoln. He's a big fan of brush techniques and likes to play delicate rhythms with them - unless he's let loose on some funk! His influences as a drummer are Billy Higgins, Jeff Hamilton, Ed Thigpen, Roy Haynes and Tony Williams.
